December 11, 2018 "Cyaround Oz!" Tackling The Toughest Tracks In Australia on Yokohama Geolandar Tyres
Jack and Jem left their home city of Adelaide in January 2018 and have been on the road ever since. They’ve racked up over 30,000 km over narrow tracks and dirt in their “home on wheels,” a 2000 model HZJ78 Toyota Landcruiser Troopcarrier that they fondly call “Troopy!” The couple love Troopy for its simplicity and reliability in always getting them where they need to go.
They’ve travelled the Victorian High Country, frolicked on the picturesque sand oasis of Fraser Island, driven the Peninsula Development Road to the most Northern point of Australia, visited Cape York via the infamous Old Telegraph Track, and conquered the top of The Savannah Way and The Gibb River Road in Western Australia.
Trusting their vehicle can carry them over such intrepid tracks has been fundamental to their success.
It doesn’t get tougher than Yokohama Geolandar A/T
Jack and Jem have been running the 285/75/16 Yokohama Geolandar A/T’s on Troopy since they left Adelaide.
The tyres have been the perfect fit for their adventures. As they put it: “We’ve had absolutely no issues at all! We’ve not given these tyres an easy life, but they have tackled any task we’ve thrown at them. We have confidently travelled all types of terrain, including sharp rock, extremely soft sand, mountains and plenty of highway kms in between.”
Jack and Jem recommend running a suitable tyre pressure to the conditions and regularly rotating the tyres to get maximum life and performance out of tyres. Australia is a big country and there can be a lot of distance to cover between cities, towns and general stores. That’s why having an All Terrain tyre that’s extremely capable both off and on road is essential. The Geolandar A/T also gives a quiet ride at high speeds.
“Much of the time we find ourselves in isolated places where no tow truck is able to reach us. So being able to get ourselves out of any situation is usually the only option. This is why running a reliable tyre is essential and makes for one less thing to worry about when travelling remotely,” say Jack and Jem.
They added, “We’re happy to say that we have never had any issues with the Yokohama Geolanders, as much as we’ve tested them to the max! They’re more than capable of conquering all terrains.”
The duo will be putting a fresh set of the new Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015s on their Troopy and continuing their travels in 2019.
